He Loves Us: The simple truth

Welcome to “He Loves Us,” a space dedicated to exploring the good news of God’s love for all people. This first post is about the very foundation of that love – a simple message called the gospel.

God loves us so much that He doesn’t leave us in the dark. He tells us the truth, and the truth begins with understanding who He is. God is the Creator of everything. This isn’t just a title; it signifies His ultimate authority, power, and wisdom. He made us, mankind, in His own image so that we could know Him, understand His character, and live in a relationship designed for our deepest joy and flourishing.
But here’s the bad news, the crucial starting point of the gospel: every single person has rejected this loving Creator. The Bible calls this rejection “sin.” And the consequence of sin is far more serious than we often realize – it’s eternal separation from God and His blessings, a place called Hell. God has even set a future day for final judgment.

Now, if that’s where the story ended, it would be devastating. But it doesn’t end there! This is where God’s incredible love becomes clear to us. He doesn’t want anyone to face that eternal separation from His blessings. He tells us beforehand about His plan so we can make the right choices.
And what is that plan? God Himself, in the person of Jesus, stepped into our world. Jesus, fully God and fully man, lived a perfect life and then willingly died on a cross. This wasn’t a random act; it was the ultimate sacrifice so that we could be forgiven for our sins. But the story doesn’t end with the cross. Jesus rose from the grave, conquering death and proving that He is indeed God and that He will fulfill every promise He makes. One of those promises is that He will return as the Judge on that final judgment day.

So, how can we be saved from this coming judgment? Jesus gives us a simple answer: repent. This word means to change our thinking. It starts with recognizing who Jesus truly is – God. We must believe that He died for our forgiveness, rose again, and is alive today. When we truly change our thinking about Jesus, we also change our thinking about our sin. We acknowledge that our rejection of God deserves that eternal separation.

In this agreement with Jesus about our sin, we then ask Him for forgiveness. And here’s another incredible promise: He will forgive us when we ask. Finally, repentance means committing to follow Jesus for the rest of our lives, learning to obey Him as our Lord and Savior.

Jesus loves you! He desires for everyone to turn to Him, to change their thinking, to be saved, and to know the truth.

As it says in John 3:16 (NKJV): “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
